backbend workshop

Beautiful Bends!

Join Union Yoga Instructors Khristine Jones and Martin Scott for an afternoon of experiencing the joy of heart opening postures and the benefits of the back back bending! They will show you how to approach backbends safely, promoting intelligent movements and increasing flexibility in the body, and allowing you to backbend with wisdom and awareness.

This workshop will be structured to be available and beneficial to yogis at all levels of practice. We will start with subtle, gentle heart openers, add shoulder & front body releases balanced with counter poses, explore core strength which is integral to back bends and then take your practice towards deeper movement. Backbends are known to:

  • Increase energy
  • Stimulate the nervous system
  • Counteract depression
  • Cultivate heightened awareness and feeling of joy
  • Therapeutic for asthma, infertility, and osteoporosis
